# Cloud Native Engineering

Cloud native is about building software that is easier to scale, change and operate. It's not about using every cloud service available.

## Kinetive in Cloud Native Engineering

Putting an application into a cloud account does not magically make it cloud native. We help organisations modernise business-critical applications, design scalable architectures and move workloads from legacy or on-premises environments to modern cloud native platforms — taking advantage of automation, managed services, resilience and fast delivery without turning every system into a distributed-systems science project.

Our approach is incremental: identify the biggest constraints, define a sensible target architecture and improve the system in manageable steps instead of defaulting to a big-bang rewrite.

**The goal is not to maximise the number of cloud services in an architecture diagram.**

**It is to build software that is easier to change, scale and operate.**

## What problems do we solve?

We help with situations such as:

- Modernising legacy applications
- Moving applications from on-premises environments to cloud
- Designing scalable application architectures
- Breaking down tightly coupled systems
- Improving reliability and resilience
- Building cloud-native integrations and APIs
- Modernising testing and delivery practices
- Designing applications for AWS, GCP, Azure and hybrid environments
- Reducing operational burden through managed services and automation

## Who Is It For?

Cloud Native Engineering is typically relevant when:

- A business-critical application is becoming difficult to evolve
- Cloud migration requires application changes, not just infrastructure changes
- Scalability or reliability requirements are increasing
- Teams want to modernise without a risky big-bang rewrite
- Development speed is suffering because architecture has accumulated too much friction

It works especially well for established organisations with important existing systems and very little appetite for breaking them.

## How We Help

We start from the application and business requirements rather than a preferred technology stack.

We identify the biggest constraints, define an architecture and modernisation path, and deliver improvements incrementally. That can include architecture, software development, testing, integrations, cloud services, automation and operational readiness.

*Small safe changes usually beat heroic rewrites.*

## Our Expertise

Our engineers work across modern software architectures, APIs, distributed systems, containerised applications, event-driven systems, cloud services, automated testing and [DevOps practices and CI/CD](https://kinetive.fi/devops-consulting?hsLang=en-us).

We build on AWS, GCP, Azure and cloud-native platforms using technologies such as [Kubernetes](https://kinetive.fi/kubernetes-consulting?hsLang=en-us)<https://kinetive.fi/kubernetes-consulting?hsLang=en-us>, containers, serverless services, Terraform and modern programming ecosystems. We also actively use **AI-assisted engineering workflows** where they genuinely improve delivery speed and quality without compromising architecture or security.

## Why kinetive

We combine software engineering and cloud infrastructure expertise. That matters because modernising an application usually crosses the invisible border between "application" and "platform" approximately every fifteen minutes.

Our engineers can work across both sides of that border.

## Frequently Asked Questions

Does cloud native mean microservices?

No. Sometimes a modular monolith is the much better answer.

Do we need to rewrite our existing application?

Usually not. We prefer incremental modernisation where business value and technical risk justify the change.

Can you work with our existing development team or other partners?

Yes. That is normally how we work.

Do you also handle cloud infrastructure?

Yes. Application architecture, cloud infrastructure and delivery practices are closely connected, and we can cover all three.
